Achieve The Maximum Speed In Your Connection

How to achieve the maximum speed in your connection ?
Sometimes, enough small adjustments on our router, telephone line or PC to improve the stability and speed of your Internet connection. In these pages, you will show some techniques and tricks to optimize connection from different angles and, thereby, improve both navigation and download speed.

Manipulation of the router and ADSL line

The attenuation, the worst enemy
If we use 10 or up to 20 Mbps ADSL lines we will be heavily influenced by our telephone line attenuation. This parameter measures the loss of signal or power between the central and our router, considering that to greater distance from the central, greater attenuation and therefore lower sync speed and lower stability/reliability of the line. But the distance is not everything, since they also produce attenuation wirings of poor quality or damaged and badly made both outside and inside our home connections. Therefore, if we do not achieve our router to synchronize correctly speed contracted or suffers constant falls, we always recommend to connect it directly to the telephone wall jack (PTR) which brings the line to our House or the main connector.

If these points we faster synchronization speeds or better stability of connection after some tests, is clear that the problem is in the internal wiring of our House. We need to check cables, connections in the boxes and others.
In the same way, it is important to remember that more than 3 microfilters on the same line we will have problems for ADSL properly, while its absence may also cause certain problems when connecting to the line devices such as alarms or faxes.

Different router, different speed
If we have an ADSL line the fastest (of up to 20 Mbps), you have to know that sync speed can vary from one router to another. This kind of lines only linking the above 20 Mbps under ideal conditions of minimum attenuation. In practice it is normal speeds of between 12 and 18 Mbps, always depending on the speed each router appropriate to synchronize the line smoothly. Here it is interesting to know that according to the line and the model of the router we can find differences of 1 and 2 Mbps between different manufacturers. Some routers have more conservative firmwares (such as models that operators give clients, which seeks fewer technical problems), that synchronized something below the limits to ensure greater reliability. Others, however, are synchronized to the highest possible speed, though, if our line has oscillations in the attenuation for bad connections or wiring in bad condition, can suffer cuts or point falls.

We optimize the configuration ?
Many have questioned several times about possible adjustments that could be made in the configuration of the router to improve their performance or speed of transfer. In this sense, the truth is that each operator ADSL lines have their specific configuration parameters, and change them will only allow to operate the connection. Therefore, there are no settings in the router which we can change without more to increase or improve their performance.
Unfortunately, we are absolutely conditioned by the speed assigned by our operator, our line quality and internal installation of our home.
